Most banks in the US open at 9:00 or 10:00 and close between 3:00 and 5:00, but stay open later on Fridays, and some banks have longer hours in order to attract customers on this day. What’s the best way to carry money safely while you are traveling There are three possibilities—personal checks from your country, travelers checks and credit cards. Some American banks accept foreign checks such as Eurocheques (欧洲货币支票); the problem is that only those banks that are used to dealing with foreigners will know what Eurocheques are. It may be more convenient to carry travelers checks, which are insured against loss. They should be in dollars, because only a few banks do much business in foreign currencies. If your checks aren’t in dollars, it may take you a long time to find a bank that will exchange them. You can use travelers checks almost anywhere. If you run out of them, you can buy more at most banks. Their service charge will vary, though, so ask what it is before you buy your checks. Americans would say the best way to carry money is to have a credit card. Credit cards can be canceled if they are lost or stolen. And because they are widely accepted in the US, it is easy to use them to pay all kinds of bills. Of course, you can’t get along without cash, but you don’t need to carry much with you. In order to attract customers, on Fridays some American banks______.

A. close the banks at 3.00 p.m.
B. close the banks at 5.00 p. m.
C. open the banks earlier than usual
D. close the banks later than usual

Beginning in October, more than 13000 McDonald’s restaurants in America will use a new variety of cooking oil. McDonald’s aims to make its French fries and other fried foods healthier. The change will not affect the taste or the number of calories in the food. But by changing the cooking oil, McDonald’s says, it hopes to cut by nearly half the amount of trans fatty acids (转换脂肪酸) in French fries and reduce the amount of saturated fats (饱和脂肪) by 16 percent. Scientists believe that trans fatty acids and saturated fats raise cholesterol (胆固醇) levels and increase the risk of heart disease. McDonald’s new step is important because McDonald’s is an industry leader and other fast-food chains and food processors may follow the lead. For McDonald’s, the action comes at a time when Americans are becoming more and more concerned about obesity, which is also an increasing pressure on food companies to offer healthy food to consumers. After three years of study, McDonald’s officials say they are switching oil that is lower in saturated fats and trans fatty acids. McDonald’s says the change will not cause higher coats for consumers. Though there is some change, scientists say that the amount of trans fatty acids in foods at McDonald’s and at other fast-food companies is still important. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage

A. If a person’s cholesterol is high, it won’t affect his health.
B. Heart disease is connected with the contents of cholesterol.
C. The Americans pay no attention to the action of McDonald’s.
D. Most of American foods are lower in trans fatty acids.
