In an ordinary mirror your right eye stares at your right eye and your left eye at your left eye —the opposite of the right-left, left-right connection we employ for assessing one another in the wild. The image in a True Mirror (which shows what you look like to others) can come as something of a shock. You tend to look the way you do in photographs, which for many people is also a shock. (This is the flip side (反面) of the start you sometimes get when looking at the reflected image of someone you are accustomed to seeing in person.) A newspaper headline held up to a True Mirror doesn’’t appear backward—it reads just fine. But your own face may seem oddly asymmetrical. Facial mannerisms nurtured in front of a normal mirror may in a True Mirror be revealed in a different light. "It is a wholly new view for many," the True Mirror’’s promotional literature concedes, "and not surprisingly, some don’’t like or feel uncomfortable with the new look." Another issue: in a True Mirror you seem to have far less control over the figure in the glass than you do in a normal mirror. If you turn to the right in front of a normal mirror, the image turns with you and ends up facing in the same direction, completing the visual palindrome (回文). In a True Mirror the image faces the other way, as if you were about to begin pacing off for a duel with yourself; and when you take a step, the image steps away from you. In a normal mirror your reflected finger comes out to meet your real one until they touch, like Michelangelo’’s God and Adam. In a True Mirror the reflected finger comes at you from the other side of the glass, as if pointed by the other hand. Ordinarily, you have no difficulty looking at a normal mirror and guiding your hand to an object reflected in it. Try this with a True Mirror, and your grasp will prove errant. Shaving becomes a blood sport. If all the review mirrors in America’’s cars were suddenly replaced by True Mirrors, there could be a very special episode of ER (美国电视剧《急诊室》). The word "errant" (Para. 2) most probably means________.

A. difficult
B. tight
C. correct
D. remarkable

请根据下面短文回答: Many American families live busy lives. Every week, the children have sports, music lessons, club meetings, and many other activities, including(包括)hours of homework. The parents are busy, too. They work, take care of their homes, cook meals, and drive their children to activities. Some families do not have time to eat meals together more than once a week. One American community(社区)decided that it was time to take a break. After seven months of planning, the community of Ridgewood, New Jersey, took one night off. They called it "Family Night", a night for families to spend time together. Sports teams stopped their practices, and teachers did not give homework. On Family Night, families agreed to turn off their televisions. They also decided not to answer the telephone. Answering machines said, "Please call back tomorrow." Many families ordered take-out pizza and other take-out food so that they wouldn’t spend time cooking. Popular(受欢迎的)activities included board games(用棋盘玩的游戏)and card games. These games gave families a chance to spend time together. Children and parents weren’t so busy, and children didn’t spend so much time playing video games and watching television. On Family Night, families relaxed and spent the evening together. The town hopes to have many more "Family Nights". On "Family Night", families will______.

A. play video games together
B. watch television together
C. play card games together

Invisibility Ring Scientists can’t yet make an invisibility cloak like the one that Harry Potter uses. But, for the first time, they’ve constructed a simple cloaking device that makes itself and something placed inside it invisible to microwaves. When a person "sees" an object, his or her eye senses many different waves of visible light as they bounce off the object. The eye and brain then work together to organize the sesensations and reconstruct the object’s original shape. So, to make an object invisible, scientists have to keep waves from bouncing off it. And they have to make sure the object casts no shadow. Otherwise, the absence of reflected light on one side would give the object away. Invisibility isn’t possible yet with waves of light that the human eye can see. But it is now possible with microwaves. Like visible light, microwaves are a form of radiant energy. They are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which also includes radio waves, infrared light, ultraviolet rays, X rays, and gamma rays. The wave lengths of microwaves are shorter than those of radio waves but longer than those of visible light. The scientists’ new "invisibility device" is the size of a drink coaster and shaped like a ring. The ring is made of a special material with unusual ability. When microwaves strike the ring, very few bounce off it. Instead, they pass through the ring, which bends the waves all the way around until they reach the opposite side. The waves then return to their original paths. To a detector set up to receive microwaves on the other side of the ring, it looks as if the waves never changed their paths as if there were no object in the way! So, the ring is effectively invisible. When the researchers put a small copper loop inside the ring, it, too, is nearly invisible. However, the cloaking device and anything inside it do cast a pale shadow. And the device works only for microwaves, not for visible light or any kind of electromagnetic radiation. So, Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak doesn’t have any real competition yet. What is NOT true of the invisibility device

A. It is made of a special material with unusual ability.
B. Microwaves bounce off it when they strike it.
C. Microwaves pass through it when they strike it.
D. It bends the microwaves all the way around until they reach the opposite sid
