到底什么叫博客它与个人网站、社区、网上刊物、微型门户、新闻网页等究竟有什么区别由于博客形式本身就综合了多种原有的网络表现方式，因此要严格界定这个“混血儿”不太现实，而且不能陷入形式主义。随着演变，博客的形式会越来越多样性。有人写道：“blog的确存在这种现象。许多新闻媒体(比方说华盛顿邮报)为了强调blog惊人崛起的现象，常用blogger.com的使用人数(目前为750,000)作指针，而不管其内容特质是否符合blog。事实上，我们也可以认为使用moveable type、greymatter、b2、blogger、pmachine等weblog工具的都是blog。
