Now I’d like to talk to you about the final exam. The exam will be held next Tuesday, the last day of the exam week. Remember to bring two or three pens in case you run out of ink. Hi, Jim. This is Jane. You missed a wonderful movie last night. Too bad you had to study for that history test. Anyway, I really wish you had been able to go with us. It was one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen. Oh, I don’t mean beautiful because of the scenery. As a matter of fact, the land where they made the film wasn’t beautiful at all. The beautiful thing was the way the actors played their parts. You know me. I am not usually easily moved, but a couple of times I almost cried. Once when the farmer in the film was standing in the middle of his wheat field. There had been hardly any rain for a good harvest. A dust storm destroyed his whole crop. The actor acted the part so simply that the whole story came to life. I don’t think he ever said a word. He just stood there looking over the field and then down at his empty hands.
